Over 50 nationalities represented at the ISDE Sports Convention (ISC 2025), reinforcing Madrid’s position as a global epicenter for legal education in the sports industry.
The event brought together more than 1,000 people from nearly 100 countries, becoming the only gathering of its kind promoted by a university center in partnership with LALIGA, one of the world’s leading sports organizations.
Throughout the day, key topics were addressed such as audiovisual piracy, the impact of artificial intelligence on professional sports, the legal challenges of new competitions, and Africa’s emerging role as a key player in the global sports industry.
The convention opened with the inaugural panel featuring Juan José Sánchez Puig, CEO of ISDE Law & Business School, Eugenio Ribón, Dean of the Madrid Bar Association, Ángel Asensio Laguna, President of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, and Carlos Del Campo, Deputy to the President at LALIGA.
The event recognized the achievements and values of key figures such as:
José Luis Martínez-Almeida Navasqüés, Mayor of the Madrid City Council, received the Institutional Sports Career Award for his commitment to promoting sports through public institutions.
Teresa Perales Fernández, a Paralympic legend, was awarded the Sports Career Award for embodying the core values of effort, perseverance, and inspiration.
Rudy Fernández, one of the most iconic players in Spanish basketball, was honored with the Legend Award after a brilliant career full of titles and leadership.
The Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, driven by Juan Roig, received the Solidarity Institution Award for its outstanding work supporting sports and those in need.
